It’s finally finished. This may look familiar to some, and thats because the background Fate is standing in front of is almost 3 years old. Originally, the person in this image is supposed to be Gekido. I never actually finished that version and left the file untouched for a long time.
Then a few hours ago, I was looking through my folders and found this again. I thought Fate would fit really well in the scene and had a go at it. This is the result.
Nanoha and Fate, once again. Inspiration for this came from a fanfic by Arigatou Sheitarou entitled, “Tell Me A Secret”. [link]
I particularly liked the imagery that the writing made me visualize, though the initial idea (in my head) is different from the actual execution I did.
Also, i found it refreshing (and difficult) not to depend on the characters’ faces - particularly the eyes - to portray emotion. I need to practice more on image atmosphere.
Anyway, hope you like it.
“In the terminal she sleeps on my shoulder,
Hair falling forward, mouth all askew.
Fluorescent announcements beat their wings overhead:
“Passengers missing, we’re looking for you.”
And she dreams through the noise, her weight against me,
Face pressed into the corduroy grooves.”

For a long time now, I’ve been wanting to draw the image in my head whenever I listened to this song. Fate’s (possible) feelings for Nanoha, I thought, would fit perfectly for this.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t very happy with the background initially. But thankfully it was treated with some Ruben-magic so now it looks better.
